Me and Lily just filmed the principals doing the whip and all we have left to do is film the 8th grade teachers and put them all in the video. We have been very successful with the timing of the videos and the music and it looks really cool and funny. After we are done with "Watch Me" we will work on "It's Time" and "Better Together" (other songs for the video yearbook". We will film at recess and when there are events at Nichols. We will come up for lunch to work on it since we will be rotating fine arts classes.
1. What is 8-bit art and when did it originate?
8-bit art is pixel art, the base of it is the same process that is used to create music for video games. It originated from video games that came out in the late 70s up to the mid 90s. 2. What are the 3 functions of 8-bit art? The first function of 8-bit is that it is easy to make. The second is that if you do 8-bit you are belonging to a specific group. The third is that it makes the creative process more like a game. 3. Do you think 8-bit art should be considered an art form? Why or why not? I think 8-bit art should be considered an art form because everyone has a different way of making art, and this is the way for some people. Everyone has a different way to express themselves artistically. 4. List any 8-bit video games or art work you have played or seen in popular culture I have played Pac Man and Mario Bros. So far, Lily and I have filmed for 3 days at lunch. We plan to use the "Watch Me Whip" song and have different people doing the whip (and the other dances in the song). We still need more clips of people doing the other dances, but it is hard to get people to do the dances because they are embarrassed. We are editing the clips to fit with the song, and seeing what other clips we will need. Once we are done with this song, we have other songs to make other parts of the video yearbook.
1. What does each stanza talk about in Maya Angelou's poem, 'Touched by an Angel'? (3 points)
Each stanza in the poem 'Touched By An Angel' by Maya Angelou talks about different meanings of love. The first stanza talks about how people are lonely and fearful before love comes into their lives. The second stanza says what love brings into our lives and the ups and downs included with it. The third stanza demonstrates all the ways in which love changes us and sets us free. 2. What does the phrase, 'coiled in shells' mean? (2 points) The phrase 'coiled in shells' means that one can become lonely without love. 3. Why do you think Maya Angelou wrote this poem? (2 points) I think Maya Angelou wrote this poem to inform and discuss all of the aspects and stages of love. 4. Give your own interpretation of this poem. Use 4-5 complete sentences. 4-5 sentences. (4 points) I think this poem describes how love is good and bad. It means different things to everyone and not all ways of love are the same. There are ups and downs but everyone is different when it comes to love. Love can help you feel safe and everyone should be able to have it. 5. Type your favorite sentence of the poem. "Yet is only love which sets us free." Hi! My name is Pia Baldwin Edwards and I'm in 8th Grade Media Arts a Nichols Middle School.
So far in Media Arts, my favorite project has been the pointillism project. I am best at working in Photoshop because I am good at editing photos. This year I want to concentrate on filming and editing. My hope is that I will create the 8th grade video yearbook. |
