My project is composed of images of sunsets and sunrises taken from the windows of my condo building. The sunrises are taken from my balcony facing the lake, and the sunsets are taken from the opposite side of the building over the nearby parking garage. I took all the pictures on my IPhone then airdropped them to my computer. After collecting all the pictures, I put them in IMovie and make them into a slideshow-style video.
The other element of my project is the audio. I have a track of myself singing 'I See Fire' by Ed Sheeran that I edited over the images in the movie. The guitar behind my voice is played by my father. We recorded it in our living room after spending many nights practicing how to work together when recording. It was challenging because I had to change the key of the song to fit his guitar and harmonize. I wanted to do this song because it fits well with the pictures, is fun to sing, and is from 'The Hobbit' which is a movie that I really love. The hardest part of doing the project was waking up early to photograph the sunrise, and making sure I was home and available to take a picture of the sunset every day. I created a code from different symbols that the keyboard has on it. I made a key for the code in Google spreadsheets, then used it to translate a Robert Frost poem into the code. I then decorated the background of the poem in Photoshop, using elements such as gold, green, and flowers from the poem as my inspiration. The video is mostly done and edited, I just need the vocal and guitar track for the background. I have finished learning the song, and am now working with my guitarist on syncing up the vocals with the instrumental. For my final project, I'll be doing Option 5. I chose this because I wanted to do something specific to me, something that no one else could ever do because they aren't me. To complete this, I'll need IMovie, pictures of sunsets/sunrises from my window at home, an audio recording of myself, and an audio recording of my dad playing guitar. Then, I'll play the pictures in a montage, with my singing and backing track layered over it.
This is a road sign showing different axis as the signs. It is made of different letters, arrows, and cylinders. It is interesting because it forms a cool shape, and has meaning beyond the letters. This is a sign saying "Don't Panic," which is a famous line from the book 'The Hitchhikers's Guide To The Galaxy.' It is made up of different letters, and a comic book style explosion symbol. This is interesting because it is iconic, and a reference to a very good book. This is a keychain made out of the logo for the game 'World of Warcraft.' It is made of an 'old-fashioned' sign shape and different letters. This version is panted, but the actual shape was 3D printed. It is interesting because it shows what can be done with a 3D printed shape after it is made, and because it is a well made game reference. Out of all of these, my favorite is the 'Don't Panic' sign. It's my favorite because the letters pack a punch when they are on a background like that, and because it is a really cool use of a book quote.
